One Chance to Show Love

Lately, I’ve felt something stirring deep in my heart, a genuine urgency to get people through the doors of our church.
Now before you say, “Well, of course you feel that way, you’re a pastor,” let me clarify: this isn’t about attendance numbers or filling seats. It’s about something much deeper. I believe God is drawing people in our direction, and sometimes… we only get one shot. One chance to make someone feel seen. One moment to help someone know they’re not alone. One opportunity to show them what His love really looks like.
That’s the weight I feel. That’s the fire burning in my heart.
I want to use every tool, every conversation, every connection online and in person to point people toward Jesus and what He’s doing through Northplace. Whether I’m at the grocery store, attending school activities, or scrolling on social media… I want people to know there’s a place they can come to find hope. A place where grace is real. A place where they’re wanted.
Luke 14:23 (NIV) “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.’”
I can’t explain it fully, but I feel it God is preparing something beautiful for this season. A fresh outpouring of His love. Not just in our church, but through it. Through our people. Through our stories. Through simple moments of kindness and courage.
The other day, I had a conversation with some teenagers riding their bikes through our church parking lot. I saw them on the security cameras and decided to go say hello instead of turning them away. They weren’t expecting kindness. But I believe even that moment could plant a seed.
I want everyone yes, everyone to experience God’s love. Whether they’ve never stepped foot inside a church or they’ve been burned by it in the past, there’s room for them here. There’s healing here. There’s Jesus here.
So what’s next? I’m going to keep talking to people. Meeting new faces. Sharing God’s love on every platform I can from conversations in coffee shops to posts on Instagram. I’ve had this feeling before. Every time I do, something big follows. Not because of strategy or creativity but because God shows up when His people are available and expectant.
So consider this my heartfelt invitation to you, your family, your friends, your neighbors. Come and see what God is doing. Come and be part of it.
Because I believe the best is still ahead. And I don’t want anyone to miss it.
Isaiah 43:19 (ESV) – “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
